Still cannot buy, customer service does not respond

I’ve been looking to purchase the zero degree Aerie for a couple of months now. Previously it said it would be available in November, but the last few times I’ve checked it just says sold out. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Tried contacting customer service, but they never responded.

Aerie 20° bag

Love this thing. The one I have is an older model that ive had for around 5 years now with the square baffles and it has treated me well through ~90-100 nights in the summer and winter, on the ground and in hammocks. If treated well it lasts a very long time. I had the stitching around one of the drawstrings fall apart on a trip and fixed it with some electrical tape i had with me that has now doubled the lifespan. I imagine outdoor vitals will be where i return to when its time to retire this piece.

The Aerie is THE best, not only underquilt but sleeping bag. The customer service is good. The bag itself is super warm and will get the job done.

Really nice bag!

Purchased the 0* bag and really like the fact it is spacious, square bottom and the very bottom unzips so my feet can stick out. It is one of the main things i dislike about most bags is the inability to unzip the bottom. Haven't used it in the cold yet.

Lifesaver!!

Couldn't sleep the night through in my hammock as my back always got too cold. I have slept through every night since I purchased this! Definitely worth it! And it's warm warm warm!!

Love this thing

I have a few under quilts. This is the second OV Aerie quilt that I purchased. The first once was a 15° Loft Tek quilt and this one is a 0° down quilt. I needed a second under quilt for friends and for colder weather. Quilt arrived quickly and looks great. I have already added my shock cord and carabiners hack (to the loops on each end of the bag) that make using it as an under quilt better. I recommend adding these to your bags as they allow the ends to gather around you hammocks. This makes it so that you do not have to worry about shifting the under quilt around as you sleep since it stays in place and does not drop below the hammock while allowing the ends to flex as needed to accommodate movement.

Best sleeping bag!!!

It is light. Warm, and rectangular. I love it because it is rectangular. I can move my feet and legs freely. I introduced it to my friends and several of them bought it.

Best cocoon I’ve ever had but too short

I have the aerie down 30 degree bag. I absolutely love it but it is too short. I’m 6’1” 210 lbs. i have used this system for about 3 years now and all i use is my cheap lightweight hammock and use this as a center zip cocoon. I have used it down to 20 degrees with clothes and i was comfy. I don’t like sleeping on the ground but when i do i use this as a top quilt. This is my go to bag for almost everything over 20 degrees. I wish it had a long version. Please make them in a long version!!

Great Bag

I have the aerie in 20 degree I use as an under quilt and bag. I don’t like mummy bags because I side sleep and toss and turn all night. This bag is roomy and still light. I bought the 0° for winter camps. Same amount of room, just a warmer bag.

So much room

For your reading pleasure I have a review on this sleeping bag. I spent months looking for a good traditional rectangle shaped sleeping bag. I enjoy the warmth of the military issue bags but hate the mummy design as I feel like I cannot move. Not many outdoors companies have a rectangle bag so I took a chance on this. No regrets what so-ever. Is is very light. The zipper works nicely. There is plenty of room for me to move around (I am 6'2") and stay totally in the bag. I did buy a separate compression sack to keep it in so I can leave it loose-ish when not in use and cinch it down when traveling. Great buy. Would definitely recommend.

Added warmth

I doubled this with OV 0 degree under quilt in single digit nights. The combination was perfect
The 0 degree top quilt was all I needed on top.
I wore long johns and a light hoodie
I’d recommend this combination for anyone that uses a hammock tent
Thank you
Great products

Best bag for active sleepers

It’s been a massive struggle trying to find a sleeping bag to accommodate just how picky I am. I am both a side sleeper and extremely active, so trying to sleep in a mummy bag was awful and constricting. I bought the 0 degree variant and was absolutely blown away by how much better I sleep in this thing. I have plenty of room to move and roll around inside the bag. The one single issue that I had was that it doesn’t fit on any of my sleeping pads because of how long it is.

Aerie out performed itself.

I took a 15 degree bag Aerie bag out in single digit temps with high winds. Slept comfortably on a 1/8 inch foam pad under a Paria Recharge XL. I started with a merino wool base layer, the later added a fleece midlayer, and both the down booties and hood. The Aerie along with my clothes outperformed my mat. Oh yeah I was in a SMD Lunar Solo. I am sold on OV!!!

A bit heavier but I will take it.

Mine is perfect... 2lb 11.5 is what specs says. Mine is 3.0.
I will take the extra 4.5ozs of fill.
Thank you.

This is awesome awesome awesome.

I have used this a few times now and I love it. For me I add 5-10 degrees to OV ratings and find them to work well for me. I got this used from them and it looks brand new. I love the roominess of this bag and the shock cord closure on the top to hold in all the warmth. Great product will buy another 1.

Only used it once but very comfortable and super light!

First night was in the 50's in a hammock that was open with rain fly above, very comfortable. Second night was warmer and it was just as comfortable. Looking forward to using it for colder nights.

Great bag for a great price

I bought this hybrid quilt/bag in the 0 ℉ option. It took a couple weeks to arrive but that was bc of the Pandemic and holidays hindering postal service in my region. I contacted OV during this time and “Dave” communicated with me about multiple different questions I had. Outdoor Vital promptly shipped my order not long after the order was placed. The material and zipper used is very good and durable. I was also impressed with the weight of the sleep system. It’s very very light for a 0 ℉ sleep system. I recommended this company to my camping friends.

Changeling update!

I purchased this Aerie 0 degree in October of 2020. To date I had used it as a top quilt/sleeping blanket and a sleeping bag. 5 stars on both. This past weekend I used my Aerie as an under quilt. I had set it up ahead of time before leaving the house to minimize set up at my camp. The video where Tayson demonstrates how to set an Aerie up tends to gloss over the need to capture the loops of shock cord with the height adjusting, webbed tabs on each end with the attachment shock cords and cord locks. One loop retracted down into the channel and I was not in weather conducive to retrieving it. I did cause a very small amount of damage to the channel end while retrieving it. It slept warm, though, and I was very pleased with the performance. I don't know if I lost instructions for setting it up or if they were ever included. Other than this one thing, this bag has overperformed in every single category you care to mention. I wanted to give it 4.5 stars but can't split that last star for some reason. - Scott (TorToise)

About 3 years and still keeping me warm

Originally bought this 20 degree modular system to use as a under quilt to use with my hammocks. Have also used it with my tent as a sleeping bag. In both cases worked well down to mid 30s with only a light puffy as a top quilt in hammock and with a pad in the tent. In my hammock I have been down to around 10 deg using my sleep pad underneath and a 20 deg bag as atop quilt with aerie as a UQ When I first got the bag it showed signs of long period of time in the stuff sack. 10 min in the dryer with no heat and a pair of crocks took care of that. When used as a under quilt, hanging it does take some fiddling with it, but not much more than with my Jack’s or better UQ and it does not zip up like a sleeping bag. The zipper could be better but for the price it’s not a huge deal. As a pod it’s a little narrow for me. It’s ok with a shorter hammock where the diagonal lay isn’t as prevalent. But when I’m using a larger hammock, it get a little too tight for me. I’m 6 feet and 230 lbs.

Good quilt

I have TWO 0°F LoftTek under quilts. They work really well when used together in colder temps. The baffles if you hold the quilt up to sunlight you will notice a lot of areas where there is no insulation. and it's just shell on shell. SO if you use two sandwiched together you can eliminate cold spots for sure. In my hammock I use a premium insulated 2" Thermarest and that keeps me from having to use an under quilt. The design is not easy to rig up to use as an under quilt for my hammock (in my opinion). My GF loves these for couch wobby style blankets because they are soft and light weight.

Warm, Quality product, Little short and complicated to hang

I have the Aerie 15 degree F down (new 2020 model). It is warm, comfortable, packs small and a quality product. Overall I am happy with it. It is even nice to use as a camp blanket or maybe a hammock top blanket on warmer nights when you don't need an underquilt.

I an 6'2" and using this on an ENO bug net hammock. It seems short. When I get it on the hammock I kind of have to choose if I'm putting it near my head or my feet. Granted, when I'm in the bag and curled a bit, I am fully enclosed by the underquilt, but when I see it on the hammock before I get in, it just doesn't have that cocoon look to it that some underquilts have since so much of the hammock is sticking out of each end.

The suspension system is kinda odd to figure out even though I have used it several times now and watched the youtube videos. I find that I use an extra carabiner to keep the two sides of the toe end closed, and then I let the head end be a little more open, but a carabiner there doesn't hurt either. If I just use the included suspension system it never really seems in place. I could be doing it wrong, but I've given it the college try several times. In the end, though, when I'm in it and sleeping I'm warm and comfortable so I guess it works just fine for the intended purpose.

I would not be able to use this as a sleeping bag, however. It would be too short for me to tuck inside and stay warm.

Solid Quilt!

Just finished my AT thru hike with an older model of the Aerie 20° quilt. And it was very reliable and true to rating. This was the first piece of gear I bought from Outdoor Vitals and was a bit hesitant about taking it on such a long and rugged trip, but the quilt held up well night after night. I was very pleased with its performance compared to other bags and quilts. Nice job OV! Cant wait to buy other pieces soon!

Changeling!

I recently purchased the Aerie 0 degree, not as a sleeping bag per se but as a top quilt/blanket. A mummy bag or top quilt with foot box is too confining and I cannot sleep like that. I coupled the Aerie with a borrowed,15 degree Loft Tek underquilt. The first night out was warm and humid and could have made do with no under quilt and a throw blanket. The next day, while on the trail, the weather soured, wind shifted from the north and the temps dropped. By bedtime the second night it was 40 degrees and the wind was gusting to 25 mph! It was blowing hard enough that the air trapped in the under quilt would not stay warm. I zipped the Aerie into a rectangular sleeping bag and was toasty. Despite the whipping of the rain fly, I slept hard and comfortable on the trail in poor conditions. The last night out was cold but still. The combination of the Loft Tek under quilt and the Aerie were phenomenal. I used the Aerie as the top blanket I had originally intended. I related the whole story to exemplify the versatility of the Aerie going from blanket to sleeping bag and then back to blanket. Way satisfied!

15 deg Down Underquilt / Sleeping Bag

It worked perfectly. It was only 2 nights but used it 1 night half zipped and the other fully zipped. Wrapped around me and my standard size ENO and still had room for air barrier (I'm 6' tall medium build). It was just the right size for me. Lowest temp was ~40 and windy. When setting up hammock, prep the quilt with tight ends so that wind flow doesn't occur. Second night warmer (~50) but rained hard. Quilt got slightly wet under tarp but the down handed it perfectly. Like any bag watch for zipper snags. It was easy to unsnag (no damage).

Great Sleeping Bag!!!

This is for the Aerie 0 degree down. I LOVE it!! I have been searching for a rectangular down sleeping bag ...(with a zipper) at a reasonable cost for a while now and finally found one!!!
