NovaPro Ultralight Jacket

I live in Alaska and this jacket can handle -20 no problem! Its deceptive lightness throws everyone off. I go to it without thinking. It has room for layers underneath. I love the pit zips for breathability during winter adventures or walking the dogs.

We hiked up to granddaddy lake last week and I used it for the first time. It was awesome to use it first thing in the morning when temperatures were the coolest. I was totally warm in the lower 40’s and I think it would have been great even into the 30’s. I’m totally impressed with its construction.

Great puffy layer! I bought this to replace an old Marmot puffy that I had used for years but grown out of as the dad bod came along. I wanted a hood on my new one and a super lofty down. This jacket fit the bill. The seams on this jacket seemed a little funky to me at first but they allow the jacket to get super lofty. I use this primarily as a backpacking puffy layer for evenings or in colder places when I’m taking a break. This is perfect for what I need. It packs down nice and small and is super light. I can even use it as a pillow when sleeping in the backcountry. The length is perfect for me and the thumb holes are great too!

Love the pit zips.
I'm 6'4" wish sleeves were 1/2 to 1" longer but still ok.
Would like a dual zipper to open from bottom like the RAB.
Like the pocket position and inside front pocket feel and insulation.

This jacket has already saved me from being chilled out here in the mountains of Wyoming. I'm training for a loop hike and during a recent training hike I stayed out after the sun went down and with the sweat on my body I started to get very chilled very quickly. I threw on the NovaPro and it only took moments for me to feel warm and toasty again. I at that point was only wearing a base layer. My only complaint about the jacket is that I am a very average sized person and I felt that the large was too large and the medium fit wonderfully around the torso and length but the hood feels a bit small and the sleeve length feels slightly short. I do not have long arms. In the medium I am still able to layer a base layer, a thin mid-layer and a thick mid layer. So there is plenty of room in the body of the medium. For reference, I am about 5'5 and 145 lb.

My jacket got a rip because of a corner of a box in my pocket. I got a day and a half of use before the rip happened. It was a warm jacket but very disappointed that it couldn't even last two days.

I love this jacket! I recently used this jacket on a 4 day trip on the AT and an overnighter to the Smokies and it rocked - warm, comfortable, functional and stylish! I met a thru hiker completing her AT hike (who had a puffy from a different UL brand) and she commented on how packable it was.

The Nova Pro performs great in the wind and snow. It worked well as a top layer and under rain jacket for increased warmth. I am 6ft and 160 lbs with a 30 inch waist. I tried the size large, but felt like it was a little loose around the belly and waist. I exchanged it for the medium, but probably should have stuck with the large. I am thin but have broad shoulders, and the medium is bit tight in the shoulders and arm pits. It is well made with wonderfull performance in the cold, and looks sharp as well. Just make sure you have plenty of room in the shoulders and chest.

My second jacket and fifth item from OV. Just received Nova Pro and it's definitely more insulation and not much added weight to my pack.
The selling point of a 20D nylon shell (though tags don't have that info.) without a lot of stitches is great.

But for me or my kind of users who keeps things for long time and takes care of them to the letter, Quality checks could improve on little things - stitches, loops etc. also, a lifetime warranty, repair philosophy would be in expectation list.

UPS did less damage to the package this time - if you see the photos. The inside pack has very tiny damages. Two plastic packets protecting a down jacket is still risky, not sure if I missed checking anything. The wax paper bags another brand uses inside outer plastic packets to ship - materials like those could protect better while keeping the shipping weight less.

Amazibg!!!!! True to size! I wear a small..and can fit my alpaca Hoodia under it. Wow. Best coat ever! Thank u outdoor vitals!

I love my new jacket. Such an epic combo of warmth but not the bulk, incredible quality, light weight and I love the pit zips to let off excess heat. So well thought out and executed of all the perfect details. And I love how sleek it is. And amazingly not too expensive!

I love the jacket. The large was nearly perfect for me at 5,11 190lbs I can wear a fleece mid layer under the jacket and still move around. I would love if there was maybe another .5-1" across the back. I get slight tugging and flattening of the loft when extending both arms out and around. It's nit picky, but just some constructive criticism. The length is perfect and sits far enough bellow my belt line to keep cold drafts out when raising my arms. My only huge issue that really sucks with this whole purchase is the shipping. Please stop using USPS. When I got the package it was crammed into my mailbox with the plastic shipping bag slightly ripped. This was alarming considering it's a down jacket. I noticed a puncture hole in the shipping bag too. After inspecting the jacket there's a pen mark on the hood where a postal carrier punctured through all three of the bags you carefully packed the jacket in. Not Outdoor Vitals fault at all they went to great lengths to prevent this with three seperate bags. Coming from a former usps mail carrier stop using them please. Most of the people handling packages there have zero concern for them, not all but most.

If you're on the fence about this jacket go for it!

I had to come home for a funeral and realized I didm’t have a jacket warm enough for the graveside ceremony so ordered this and wore it as a mid layer under an old jacket I already had. It worked perfectly while I listened to people around me complaining about the cold.

Everything I expected from OV! Used the NOVAPO on a short winter hike and as expected it did everything that it was designed to do.
Chilly in the morning and as it warmed up used the vents to keep moisture from forming.

I replaced an Eddie Bauer 650 weight down lite with the NovaPro. I love it. Pit zips, hood, long tail, inside storage, 850 weight... and it layers well with other pieces I have.

I’ve had parkas as warm as this in the past, but they were a lot bulkier and heavier. The NovaPro manages to be extremely warm yet packs down small for stashing in my pack when needed. I like to use this when taking breaks on trail or hanging out at camp, especially in frigid temps with wind.

The NovaPro has several unique features that make it stand out from other options:

Using an innovative baffle construction that isn’t stitched or bonded, the baffles are woven into the fabric. This eliminates a lot of stitches that could allow air and moisture inside.

Another unique aspect is the use of down AND synthetic insulation. The down is 850-fill HyperDry and responsibly sourced, and a small amount of synthetic LoftTek insulation is added for increased water resistance.

Pit zips! I love pit zips to shed excess warmth, and most insulated jackets don’t include them.

Water resistant finish: while not waterproof, the DWR coating on the exterior is highly water resistant. I’ve worn this in the rain several times and the water beads up and doesn’t soak into the fabric.

Mens's, size small, Smoke; rec'd it today. Its met all my expectations.
It fit me just right. Large enough for me to put on over several layers of clothing & still be comfortable.
SLEEVE LENGTH & THUMB HOLE - Thumb hole is large enough for my thumb to easily fit, thanks to the sleeve length, when I put my thumb through the hole, the rest of the sleeve covers all knuckles on my hand. If I want, I can pull the sleeve over my fist which is completely covered & put them into the front zippered pockets.
TWO LARGE ZIPPERED POCKETS - large enough for my gloved hands to fit into the pockets.
HOOD - excellent design with all the adjustments needed in all the right places.
Jacket EXTERIOR material - sheds a light sprinkle of rain, however, this is a DOWN jacket & it's best to make every effort to keep it DRY.
PACKABLE - I'm especially pleased how small the jacket is when stuffed into it's own left pocket
PITZIPS - excellent length & ability to keep my upper torso at just the right temperature.
FRONT ZIP - I especially like the snag-free design of the material that forms a wind/cold block.
My opinion - I'll normally wear my Marmot Gore-Tex Windbreaker/Rain Jacket over my NOVAPRO jacket.
Also, I'll definitely slip into this jacket B4 crawling into my sleeping bag if I want additional layer of warmth.

This jacket looks like no other Puffy jacket, I have seen another brand trying to copy the look but there is more to this jacket then the look, This jacket is super light and packs away to nothing. It’s provides a great deal of warmth without being over puffy and bulky. OV is in a class of its own with high end tech and design that are definitely a step above their competitors. I was so impressed by this Puffy jacket that I had to order another model in their lineup and probably won’t stop til I own all the Puffy models, They are that good!!!

Fits well.
Will try it out in a couple of weeks.

What a great design in a down jacket! Love the no stitch baffles, pit vents, nice fitting hood. Can’t wait to put it through its paces.
